Frequently Asked Questions

Where is my data stored?

All your journal entries, habits, tasks, goals, and notes are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you have iCloud enabled, data syncs securely across your devices via iCloud CloudKit.

How do I back up my data?

Your Chronicle data is included in your standard iCloud or iTunes/Finder device backup. Make sure device backups are enabled in iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → iCloud Backup.

Will my data sync across my iPhone and iPad?

Yes. Chronicle uses iCloud CloudKit to sync data across all devices signed in to the same Apple ID. Ensure iCloud is enabled for Chronicle in Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud.

How do I delete my data?

You can delete individual entries from within the app. To remove all data, delete the app from your device — this removes all locally stored data. iCloud copies can be removed from Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage.

Why does the app ask for tracking permission?

Chronicle is free and supported by ads. The tracking permission (AppTrackingTransparency) allows ads to be personalised, which helps keep the app free. You can decline — the app will still work and show non-personalised ads.
